Birds Nest Works

I fell into making birds nests after observing and being inspired by the birds on my property, as they go about their daily lives collecting otherwise discarded elements of nature, then deftly weaving them into exquisite nests to house their young.
The tactile approach to the moulding of the soft malleable twigs and grasses contrasts with working with hard and dry rock; each is a meditative process that embraces the natural beauty of diverse elements and adds variety and balance to my practice.

I love that my birds nests are relatively ephemeral, that they can be displayed indoors or outdoors to eventually blend back into nature – wherever you choose.
